RYA Sailing Courses
A 2-day course intended for novices. By the end of the course, participants will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, rope work and be aware of safety on board.
A 5-day course intended for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members rather than just passengers and who have some dinghy or cruising experience. We often mix our Competent Crew and Day Skipper students. You live on board for 5 days and will travel as far as 100 miles from our base at Portland, frequently visiting the Solent or Devon.
A 5-day practical course spent on board, and intended to teach pilotage, navigation, seamanship and boat handling to the standard required to skipper a small cruising yacht safely by day and in tidal waters. The Day Skipper and Competent Crew course take you on board the boat to Poole and then the Solent or across Lyme Bay to the Devon coastline. Both courses include a night entry into port.
A 5-day practical course, spent on board the yacht, and intended to teach the skills and techniques required to skipper a yacht (7-15m) safely in coastal waters and during offshore passages by day and night.
