Come along to our fully equipped classroom and be taught face to face by one of our qualified instructors.

We teach the course using training radios which behave in exactly the same way as the radio on your own boat, and practice is provided in the correct use of both DSC and voice communications.

A session on emergency beacons such as EPIRB (emergency position indicating radio beacon) and SART (search and rescue radar transponder) is included to provide an insight into long range distress alerting equipment.

At the end of the day there is a formal assessment conducted by an independent assessor. This takes the form of a practical examination of radio skills and a written paper.

On Line Option

Enrol with us to complete the course on line using the RYA's new VHF/DSC radio course.

You will be given access to the course which can be completed in your own time on your home computer (the computer must have a microphone and a speaker).

An assessment in our classroom is then conducted with one of our instructors

Please have a look at the RYA DSC/VHF Taster Course on the RYA website.

Alternatively there is a You tube video of the online course available.
